In his recent visit to Japan,
Dr David McKay (from Irish RP)
quoted the following words from
Neuhaus:

…the public square will not and cannot remain naked. If it is not clothed with the ‘meanings’ borne by religion, new ‘meanings’ will be imposed by virtue of the ambitions of the modern state.
(The Naked Public Square, p.vii.)

This reminded me not only of Van
Til's "brute fact" but also of Matthew 12:44-45 (i.e. wicked spirits coming in to a clean and unoccupied house)and prompted me to think about practical implication in the political arena.

Who stays in and dominates the public square of, say, Iraq, China, North Korea, Japan...and
the USA?

If not Jesus the King, someone
else...

Katsunori

p.s.
Dr McKay's paper "Crown Rights of
King Jesus Today" may de found in:

Stephen Clark (ed)
*The Tales of Two Cities:
Christianity and Politics*
(Leicester: IVP, 2005)
