I repent. I was way too hard on Governor Romney’s speech. The more I think about it, the more I agree with Dreher and Buchanan. It was the best that could be done in our context. My Covenanter reflex was showing. Why make the good the enemy of the perfect. Sure there were empty platitudes about equality and diversity but such is the environment of 21st Century America. Where else could a candidate from a minority sect stand?

Thinking through Darryl’s response, I think it is interesting that DGH seem to be the one confusing cities. Sure I am skeptical of Romney’s Mormon theology but his speech affirmed the following:

1. That American order is rooted in a transcendent order;

2. That the two kingdoms are not to be confounded;

3. That he will champion what is left of Christendom.

I don’t care if a man is a complete unbeliever if he is a conservative who will affirm the above stated. Maybe I do live to close to Hill Cumorah… now were is my other wife?
