Huck… Taking America Back for Christ!
W.H. Chellis
The Drudge Report has a provocative headline linking here.
The heart of the article is a quote from Huckabee, “I hope we answer the alarm clock and take this nation back for Christ.”
RP’s will rejoice in the sentiment even if they are not sure:
1. the nation ever actually confessed Christ; and
2. that Christ needs us to take back something He has lost;
Still, I am think Huckabee is a candidate that represents the traditional position of the RPCNA in politics. First, he honors Christ, second, seeks to defend his moral law, and third, is progressive in his view of economics and civil rights.
He may be a better RP than I, since I am only down with the first two.

Bill, how the heck do you square Huck with Kirk?

Darryl… you cannot. At least I do not think so yet. I’m no Huckelberry.
Kirk was certainly no libertarian. He would be willing to use the power of government even in economic matters if necessary to preserve the permanent things.
My comment was not about my own love for the man but my perception of what the RP’s will be thinking of him.

Aren’t those in the category of famous last words, sort of like “Jesus is my favorite philosopher”? I’d say such words scare me but I am not much for aping punditry. And I’d say that I am clearly one demographic he’s not targeting, but I am even less (or more?) wild about my confession being fodder in glorified popularity contests. If Ron Paul wanted my God-vote he’d have described himself as “observant” and not “devout.” But…demographics and fodder again.
By the sounds of it, Mike sees himself as a potential pastor-in-chief, complete with all the poly-anna trimmings.
