Mike Huckabee had a big day today. Not only the Crunchy Con but also James Pinkerton (or Elrond Half-elven as he is known to the Council of the West).
Interestingly, James Pinkerton is not only a Tolkien man but descends from Covenanter stock. Interesting.

Not sure that “stock” means anything here. Pinkerton wants to thwart Sauron’s invasion, so he picked a guy who while in office showed government-style sympathy for illegals (i.e., wanted to give them “free” stuff). He also opposed the Iraq War, but wants to pick the guy who will double the size of the military and send Iranians to the gates of hell. Looks like he’s backing an “invade the world, invite the world” guy to me, and given his prior views it makes little sense.
Course I haven’t read him in a long time. Maybe he no longer opposes the occupation of Mesopotamia.
