Make It A Ron Paul Memorial Day Weekend
I paid $4.14/gallon for gas last night, so I won’t be traveling this weekend. Plus, it’s 55 degrees right now in Chicago, so it’s not the best time to be outside, either. What, then, will I be doing this weekend? In between a few household chores, I plan to begin blogging through Ron Paul’s new book, The Revolution: A Manifesto.
In response to the requests of a few readers, DRC will sponsor a discussion of The Revolution beginning next week. Start reading R.P.’s book, and stay tuned to this RP blog.
DISCLAIMER: Of course, our church does not endorse any political candidate. That’s not the purpose of the forthcoming book discussion. (It’s too late, anyway, to promote Ron Paul for President.) Rather, it’s our goal here simply to critique this best-selling and popular-level political volume among a community of readers who share a common concern for the kingdom of Christ in this world.

Excellent idea, Rev Brown.
Here is a personal blog entry (from Dec 07) that may be of interest to readers and other commenters.

Looking forward to your thoughts. I’ve read the book and found nothing essentially new for one that has followed his writings and speeches online, but its distillation in this small volume is effective. His libertarianism shines through, which I consider a doubled edged sword because his basis for libertarian principles is rather utilitarian and individualistic, with what seems passing comment on the role of church, family, and community.
