Some DRC readers may have noticed my other blog, The Upstate Conservative. The Upstate Conservative was an irregular blog focused on New York politics. I have enjoyed working on the Upstate Conservative but a blogger cannot serve two masters.
For months I have gone back and forth using what precious little time I can devote to blogging by paying too little attention to one blog or the other. Therefore, I am going to reintegrate the sacred and the secular. The DRC has always focused on the role of Christ’s Kingship over the both the church and the culture. If I am an Upstate New York conservative, by conservatism is a defense of the Christian humanist tradition. My musings belong here.
The DRC lives. Long live the DRC.
I hope you don’t mind a little suggestion about the blog. I’ve noticed that it’s been a little tricky getting a decent amount of content or participation from your writers. I’m wondering if instead of shooting for something a bit like Front Porch Republic’s collection of essays, if you make this a little more like a Boar’s Head Tavern’s bar-room conversation. Or somewhere between. I’d like to see more thoughtful conversation occur on the front page between selected writers instead of amongst everyone in the comments. Anyway, I thought that might help, but take it with a grain of salt.

I’ve been on the internet since 1995, joined, created & dropped out of more forums and blogs that I can remember.
What I’ve found is you need to be like a bee, leaving your home page[s] to visit as many others as you can as time permits.
When I see a news article or blog that needs my opinion or a correction I make a comment. Many times I never return to see if the author replied. The reason I never return is because I’ve learned most blog owners and internet news hounds don’t read the visitors comments. If they do reply it’s usually a “hey I agree” or in “anger” for being corrected.
As far as readers being active on a particlar blog good luck! Most of the times forums & blogs are followed by friends & if your friend agree’s he’ll not reply.
What keeps a blog or forum going is a good pot stirring now and then.
If any of you are unhappy that Bill C. left his blog send me an email. I live close enough to him to drive by now and then to toss a few non-returnable bottles and cans in his yard.
Regards,
BPB
Thanks Bill. I am hopeful that the Upstate Conservative is not dead. Just sleeping!
