Have you seen this bru-ha-haa? Here
Why is Palin consistently so quick endorse and enforce the pseudo-morality of political correctness?
It scares me that Evangelicals are as likely to use the tools of political correctness as liberals. I think it betrays common presuppositions based on a common cultural heritage. Save us from the righteousness of the politically correct.
Vices are corrupt imitations of virtue, no? Political correctnes is then an ersatz, oppressive version of common decency.
If you’ve not read it, I think you’d enjoy Lord Moulton on Law and Manners.
John- the thought scares me when it comes to the public realm. Why not make peace with wealth distribution as vice’s imitation of charity? Or invade more third world countries as an imitation of courage? Or promoting gay marriage in support of fidelity?
Not sure I understand what you mean. Why would we promote corrupt imitations of virtue at the expense of the real thing?
Sorry John, that is what I thought you were suggesting.
Of course it’s ridiculous.
Back in the day when I thought the Republican Party was committed to conservative principles I thought it would be prudent to fight fire with fire. Give the Democrats a dose of their own medicine and recognize the game of politics for what it really is–war.
But its got to be done right, not with sanctimonious Teddy Kennedy-style grandstanding. And certainly, no conservative should ever buy into the mentality constructed by and for modern liberalism.
What will be the result of two sides using political correctness as weapons against each other? Political correctness, of course.
